How to Deactivate Facebook Account

Sometimes people want to take a break from Facebook for any reason, Deactivating the account is perfect solution for them. It will help them keep their account including photos, pots and contents safe.

Follow these simple steps to Deactivate your Facebook Account

Step 1 : Login to you Facebook account. Click on 'Menu' button in the Facebook android app in the top right corner.

Step 2 : A new window will open, then scroll down and click on 'Setting & Privacy' Tab and click on 'setting' button. Now scroll down to 'Your Facebook Information' section.

Step 3 : In the 'Your Facebook Information' section click on 'Account Ownership and Control' Tab. Then new will open. Now to deactivate Facebook account click on 'Deactivation and deletion' Tab. Then two option will open, 'deactivate account' and 'Delete account'. Select 'Deactivate account' and click continue to account Deactivation button Then it will ask for Password for security reason. Enter your password and click 'continue'.

Step 4 : A new page will open with the title 'Deactivating your Facebook account'

"Deactivating your account will disable your profile and remove your name and photo from most things that you've shared on Facebook. Some information may still be visible to others, such as your name in their Friends list and message that you've sent."

With a few options -

  • This is temporary, I'll be back.

  • I spend too much time using Facebook.

  • I have a privacy concern.

  • I don't feel safe on Facebook.

  • I have another Facebook account.

  • I don't find Facebook useful.

  • I receive too many emails, invitations and requests from Facebook.

  • My account was hacked.

  • I don't understand how to use Facebook.

  • Other (Please explain further)

Choose an option that describe the best reason for your account deactivation. If you are taking a break from Facebook for sometime then choose "This is temporary, I'll be back'' option.

After choosing an option click on 'continue' button

Step 5 : A new page will open with options

Logout instead of Deactivate

Archive your post : you can archive your recent posts and keep your account active, learn how to archive your Facebook posts

If you don't want to go with these previous options and want to deactivate you Facebook account then, select in how many days you want to reactivate your account, Facebook will automatically reactivate your account. in drop down menu you can only choose up to 7 days, if you don't want to reactivate your account within 7 days then simply choose ''Don't reactivate automatically''

then click continue to deactivate your account.

Step 6 : A new page will open - Before you Deactivate you can

Still use your messenger. If you want to use your messenger after Deactivating your account then simply tick on the ''Keep using Messenger''

Even after you deactivate these, your friends can still invite you to events, tag you in photos or ask you to join groups. If you opt out, you will not receive these invitations or notifications from your friends. To opt out please tick the option ''Opt out receiving future notifications from Facebook''. If you want to keep receiving notifications after deactivate you account then just simply untick the option.

Then click ''Deactivate My Account''. Your account is deactive now.

You can reactivate your account at any time by logging in with your email address and password.
